Unfortunately No Diving

Well, I've been back in Korea for three weeks but unfortunately I haven't been in the water yet. I've been sick for the past 2 weeks so that has something to do aobut it. I'm hoping to go to Sam Chuk next weekend but we'll see if that materializes. It's still cold this time of year so unless you have a drysuit, there won't be many takers for a trip to Korea's south-east coast. We'll see though. Eitherway, hopefully, I'll be well enough to equalize by then. I'm still far from 100%.

Until then, I'll post a few pics from my Sipadan trip 2 years ago. Yeah I know that's a long time ago but what are you going to do. I really like this guy. He's a little squid I captured on a night dive on the house reef at Borneo divers. He was so tiny, I almost missed him.

This is a picture of a baby turtle that was just released from a hatchery on Sipadan Island. The island is a marine park that is home for thousands of turtles. They come from all over the world to nest here and then swim off again. The wildlife officials dig up hte eggs when the mother leaves and protect them until they hatch. I was lucky to be there when they released a batch. Most will get eaten but a few will survive and return when it's their time to lay eggs.

I wanted to post this one because it shows just how huge the barraccuda school is and how close you can get to them. At one point, we were all under this school as they just hovered above us. Amazing!

Diving At Morrison's Quarry

(Date is actually the end of November, 2005)
Did some dives at Morrison's Quarry with Dan and his friend. We went over 2 weekends. First dive was fine. It's just a rock quarry over in the Hull region near ottawa. The quarry is filled with water and the Morrison family has placed a few objects in there to make the diving more interesting. I have a few pics. As you can see from the one above it's near winter so pretty cold but we're wearing drysuits so it's actually warmer under the water.

Here's a plane.

Here's Dan on a bike. Some joker put that one down there so we just had to get a pick of someone on it.

This is me. I"m sure it'd get boring here after too many dives but thankfully the Great Lakes are there along with the St. Laurence. Either way, Morrison's Quarry is a great (cheap and close) way to get some practice in.

This is a pretty poor start for this blog. 2 posts in 6 months or something. Oh well, I'll be diving more regularly now and I have access to a computer so hopefully the posts will come more often.
